Downtown Andover This Summer: New Tenants, Familiar Storefronts, and a Wednesday Night That Keeps Getting Bigger

If you have walked Main Street or Park Street in the last six months, you already know the punch line: the doors are the same, the signs are not. Andover's downtown food scene did not add capacity this year so much as it swapped identities. A pizza space became a market. A tavern became a taqueria. A Mediterranean spot is on its way to becoming an Indian café. For residents who left town for the winter and came back in June, the effect is disorienting in the best way.
Here is what is actually open, what is coming, and where to spend a Wednesday night before the summer runs out.
The most useful way to read this year's downtown is not as a list of new restaurants but as a map of which addresses changed hands. Once you see it that way, the rhythm becomes obvious.

Start with 36 Park Street. A new Thai–Vietnamese fusion restaurant opened at 36 Park Street in January 2026, offering pho, comfort dishes, and signature drinks in downtown Andover. Khao San is owned by Joy Chonticha, and the kitchen leans on Vietnamese pho as its anchor while pulling in Thai flavors around it. Hours run late for a downtown Andover restaurant: Khao San is open Sunday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and later on Friday and Saturday.
Down the block at 10 Main, the former Pazzo Pizza space had been dark long enough that residents had stopped noticing it. That changed when Nan's Rustic Kitchen + Market opened at 10 Main Street in the former Pazzo Pizza space, bringing a hybrid model that is part market, part café, part takeout destination, offering prepared foods, coffee, groceries, and its signature fried chicken. Nan's already operates several locations in eastern Massachusetts, and its arrival in early summer signaled continued interest from established regional brands in Andover's retail core.
South Main tells a similar story. The address at 429 S. Main Street changed hands again after Tavern on 28 closed. Bandoleros Mexican Grill, which already has locations in Devens and Concord, moved in after securing the necessary approvals and opened in late October, bringing tacos, margaritas, and a full-service Mexican dining option to a building that has seen multiple reinventions in recent years.
The pattern is worth naming, because it is not what most towns get. Andover is not filling vacant storefronts with generic chains. It is trading a Mediterranean wine spot for an Indian dessert bar, a New England tavern for a Mexican grill, a defunct pizza place for a Southern-style market and butcher counter. The downtown is more culturally varied than it was two years ago, and the change happened without any new construction.
The other summer reset is Concerts in the Park, which quietly turned into the strongest weekly anchor downtown has. Andover Recreation's annual Concerts in the Park series kicked off June 17 and runs Wednesday evenings through Aug. 26, featuring a mix of classic rock, country, jazz, blues, Beatles and Fleetwood Mac tribute acts, and family-friendly entertainment, with rain dates on Thursdays.
The venue matters here. The season opened June 17 with a Summer Kickoff at Pomps Pond featuring Arlington-based duo Coffee to Cocktails, and all remaining concerts take place at the park at the corner of Bartlet and Chestnut streets. That is a two-minute walk from every restaurant on the list above, which is the point. Each event features family activities including mini golf, face painting, cornhole, giant Jenga, and other games.

The lineup includes several returning favorites, including '60s Invasion on June 24, 12 Barz Band on July 1, Beatles tribute band 4EverFab on July 15, and Jazz Disciples later in July. The series wraps at the end of August, and the food-truck rotation changes weekly, so the Wednesday you drop by is not the same event as the Wednesday your neighbor went to.
If Wednesday belongs to the concert series, Saturday belongs to the farmers market, which hit a milestone this year. The Andover Farmers Market celebrates 20 years in 2026, running each Saturday from 9 to 1, rain or shine, in the parking lot adjacent to the Town Park, with 25-plus vendors including farms, food producers, ready-to-eat food, and artisans, along with community partners, children's activities including a POP Club, and live music and yoga.
Twenty years is not a small thing for a weekly market. Most farmers markets in the Merrimack Valley have turned over their vendor lists at least twice in that span, and a handful of the growers who started here in 2006 are still on the roster. If you have been meaning to make the market a routine instead of an occasional stop, this is the summer to do it, because the anniversary programming is layered on top of the regular schedule.

Downtown Andover is getting a new, high-end Indian café and bar that will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Monica's Mithai Café & Bar is the brainchild of Monica Soni, and the restaurant will take over the Post Office Avenue space previously occupied by Yella, which announced its closing. Soni said the store emerged from her hobby of making Indian desserts, and when demand expanded, she began looking for a storefront. A public listing describes it as a modern Indian restaurant offering a full dining experience with handcrafted desserts, flavorful entrées, and creative drinks. Dessert-forward Indian restaurants are rare north of Boston, and the Post Office Avenue location puts it inside the same three-block radius as Khao San and Nan's.
The other name to watch is not a restaurant at all. A new business dedicated to American Mahjong is coming to downtown Andover. The Hidden Parlor is expected to open on Park Street. A mahjong parlor is an unusual bet for a suburban downtown, and it is worth paying attention to for the same reason Nan's is worth paying attention to. When a downtown starts attracting concepts that would normally look for a Cambridge or Somerville storefront, the ceiling on what the retail mix can support has shifted.
The most useful thing to do with all of the above is stack it against a single week. Say you have people visiting the second week of August and you have no plan.
That is a full week of specific reservations, most of them free, none of them the same as what you would have planned in 2024.
The residents who moved to Andover for the schools or the commute have spent the last two summers watching the downtown quietly become a place you would drive to on purpose. The turnover on Park and Main is not a story about disruption. It is a story about a small retail district that had the storefront depth to absorb five or six concept changes without going dark for a season.
